Musical Director - Nick Milburn
Nick has been Musical Director of Nottingham Hospitals
Choir since 2008. His musical interests are wide ranging
and include piano, organ, oboe and percussion. He is also
an assistant conductor and accompanist with the Newstead
Abbey Singers and until 2007 was the Musical Director of
the choir at the Church of the Assumption at Beeston.
Nick has worked at local Music Shop, Windblowers, since graduating in 1998. He studied locally under Charles Slade, Kendrick Partington, Janet Nabarro, Tony and Anne Allcock and Michael Grantham, and whilst at University [Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge], where he gained an Honours degree in Music, with Jonathon Hellyer Jones and Graham Pfaff. He also attended a conducting masterclass with Sir Colin Davis.
He has toured extensively as a musician throughout Europe and also to the Eastern USA, Australia and Singapore. Nick has also performed in the orchestras for many local productions including:- Guys and Dolls [as assistant conductor], Chess and Oklahoma! Nick can sometimes be heard on BBC Radio Nottingham’s Sunday morning show with John Holmes, as a guest reviewer.
In his copious [!?] spare time Nick does have non-musical interests which include eating out and foreign holidays!
